Career:
Mr. Bhattarai has Joined Civil Service of Nepal in July 1997. He has served almost 19 years in the Nepal Administrative Service of Civil Service of Nepal in several public offices under different ministries. Those offices include – Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of General Administration, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Supply, Department of Education, Department of Immigration, Department of Commerce and Supply Management, Department of Tourism, Nepal Tourism Board, Central Bureau of Statistics, District Administration Office, Area Administration Office, Branch Statistics Office. As an international professional, he has served in the SAARC Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC), Islamabad, Pakistan for one year (2009 and 2010).
Biography:
Mr. Bhattarai assumed the responsibility of Consul General of Nepal to Honk Kong SAR and Macao SAR on 19th May 2016. He joined Nepal Civil Service in July 1997. In 19 years of his career in Nepal Administrative Service of Civil Service of Nepal, he held several administrative positions in and under different ministries of Nepal and abroad as well.
Mr. Bhattarai served as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal from February to May 2016. Before, he was joint secretary in the Ministry of General Administration, Ministry of Commerce and Supply and Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. In this capacity, he has served as a Deputy Director General of Department of Commerce and Supply Management, Deputy Director General of Department of Tourism and Administrative Chief of Nepal Tourism Board.
As an Under Secretary, Mr. Bhattarai has served as a Director of Department of Immigration, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Gorkha district, Under Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Under Secretary of Ministry of General Administration. He has also served as a professional staff (Research Associate, Training) in the regional organization – SAARC Human Resource Development Centre, Islamabad, Pakistan. Before this, Mr. Bhattarai has served in the public offices as a Section Officer for about 7 years. His career was started as statistical supervisor in 1997 where he served 2 years in the Central Bureau of Statistics.
He has participated as team leader of Nepalese delegation in the World Travel Mart (WTM, London) in 2015. His major international participation includes- International Visitors Leadership Program (USA, 2015), Bali Process (Malaysia, 2014), Security Training (Shanghai, 2012), Universal Alpine Association seminar (UAA, Beijing, 2010), Need Assessment Survey (Male and Colombo, 2009), Paper Presentation on Special Need Education (Colombo, 2009), EROPA Seminar (2007, Manila) and some more seminars.
Academically, he is a Graduate of Science (B.Sc.) from Tribhuvan University of Nepal, Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from Tribhuvan University of Nepal and Master of Public Policy Analysis (M.P.P.) from National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Tokyo, Japan.
Mr. Bhattarai was born on 08 August 1972 in Jhapa, Nepal. He and his spouse Mrs. Rima Bhattarai have one daughter and one son.
